Signed to Universal Records in his early teens, Rix's debut album 'Ascent' went to number one in the Classics and Jazz Chart - aged just 16. He has gone on to perform at venues across the globe such as: The Anhembi Centre (Sao Paulo), The Yacht Club (Monaco), Birdland Jazz Club (NYC), Moxy Hotel (Munich), The Royal Albert Hall (London), The Millennium Centre (Cardiff), Blenheim Palace (Oxford) and as a guest soloist for the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Based in the UK, Rix has performed at London venues such as The Ritz, The Mayfair Hotel, The Mandrin Oriental, Landing 42 Leadenhall Building, The Intercontinental, Cafe De Paris, The Trafalgar St James, The Barbican Centre, The Gherkin, The Savoy, The Dorchester and The Groucho Club Soho for private performances and high end luxury events.
Corporate clients include: The Grand Prix, British Airways, Volkswagen, The London Olympics, The House of Lords (Commonwealth Conference), Canary Wharf, Bicester Village and The Mayor of London.
Having walked the catwalk for the likes of Versace at Milan Fashion Week, Issey Miyake at Paris Fashion Week, Ted Baker and Superdry at London Fashion Week as well as being featured in both GQ and Vogue in recent years, Rix has enjoyed combining music with fashion, performing at the 'Winq Magazine Man Of The Year Awards' and the 'Attitude Awards' in recent times.
Rix was offered a place at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in Barbican London in 2003 to study classical and jazz saxophone. In July 2008, Rix won Junior Guildhall's most prestigious prize - the Lutine Prize. In 2007, 2008 and 2009, Rix was awarded the Sax.co.uk Scholarship by Junior Guildhall.
Rix formed The Tyler Rix quartet age 15 which went on to perform at the Vortex in the London Jazz Festival, Trafalgar Square for the St George's Day Celebrations in front of 10,000 people, The British Airways VIP lounge, The House of Lords for the Commonwealth Conference for over 50 delegates including Barack Obama & Princess Anne.
Since 2007 Rix has made solo appearances at The Barbican, St Martin-in-the Fields with the Brandenburg Sinfonia, St John's Smith Square with the Junior Guildhall Symphony Orchestra, Wales Millennium Centre, The Arts Depot Finchley with St Michael's School, The Mermaid Theatre for BBC Radio 2's Friday Night Is Music Night with the BBC Concert Orchestra; he has appeared on Blue Peter, London Tonight, BBC News, Classic FM, Radio 5 Live, and regional radio stations. He has played for Music First, The Bobby Moore Fund and Camden Calling charity events.
